Each offshore wind farm will involve installing a number of meteorological monitoring stations (masts). These consist primarily of a tall tower fitted with anemometers for measuring wind data, mounted on a monopile foundation. This mast may also include a wide variety of other instrumentation both mounted on the mast and deployed around it.
Meteorological masts are essential to provide meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) data. The metocean data are used for designing and optimising the wind farm design prior to installation and subsequently for monitoring wind farm performance. The final locations and foundation option for the proposed meteorological masts will be determined during the detailed project design process.
OGN’s engineers have the EPC experience required to provide these masts.
